Day 21; Adrasan
A long 9 hour day according to the guidebook which with loaded rucksack could easily stretch to 11 hours as it includes about 800m of climbing; though luckily the forecast thunderstorm has disappeared. A 7:00am breakfast and early start means a cool walk through cedar forests to a fort and spectacular views.
The only challenge today was limbo dancing under all the fallen trees and that dance continues tomorrow.
Then it is on to a lighthouse built to protect ships from the local currents that drag them onto the rocks.
I haven't seen many olive plantations and this one is particularly trim.
It is a glorious day of walking through a National Park with easy going and eye wateringly gorgeous views as always.
It is hard interpreting advice and though one sign provides cautionary advice to the tourist rating the walk as difficult, it is one of the easier and safer days walking for me; and I finished in 9 hours in line with my guidebook. Another notice reminds us the animals to be found. The only challenge today was limbo dancing under all the fallen trees and that dance continues tomorrow.
A few people on the trail have asked if I am tackling the mountains, which I am. It reminds me that I need to review the sections for length, elevation and technicality. I go up to 1,800 metres and with a 6 degree Celsius drop every 1,000 metres my weather forecast of 28 degrees on the coast starts to look chilly as I climb; down to about 17 degrees. I take 3 days to get to 1,800m and then later I have a 1,400m climb in one day which will help keep me focussed.
